Bakersfield City School District (BCSD) is the largest elementary school district in Kern County, California, serving approximately 28,000 to 30,000 students from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade across 44 to 45 school sites in Bakersfield. The district is committed to providing high-quality education and fostering collaborative, creative, and critical thinkers among its diverse student population. BCSD operates 35 elementary schools, 13 middle schools, and offers a range of specialized programs, including Special Education, Gifted and Talented Education, and Visual & Performing Arts. The district also provides essential support services such as Nutrition Services, School Health and Wellness, and Transportation. With a focus on teacher development, BCSD sponsors a Teacher Induction Program to support novice educators. The district's leadership is under the guidance of Interim Superintendent Dr. Karling Aguilera-Fort.
