The Independence School District (ISD) is a public school district based in Independence, Missouri. It serves the communities of Independence, Sugar Creek, and parts of Blue Summit and Kansas City. The district operates 30 schools and caters to approximately 14,000 to 14,500 students from PreK to 12th grade, maintaining a student-teacher ratio of about 15:1. ISD is committed to empowering students through a comprehensive educational experience. It offers early education centers, elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as an alternative school. The district provides various programs, including free Pre-K for eligible families, dual credit opportunities, and specialized academies that allow high school students to earn college credits and industry-recognized credentials.
