About the School
Aviation Career & Technical Education High School, also known as Aviation High School, is a public vocational high school located in Long Island City, Queens, New York. Founded in 1936, it is the largest of only five high schools in the U.S. that offer a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified Career and Technical Education (CTE) program in aircraft maintenance. The school provides a blend of rigorous academics and specialized CTE training in aviation. Students can earn FAA airframe and powerplant maintenance certificates alongside their high school diploma. As an FAA-certified Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician School, it prepares graduates for careers as aircraft technicians or for further education. With an enrollment of approximately 1,824 to 1,924 students, Aviation High School serves students in grades 9??2 and is recognized for its high academic performance, ranking in the top 10% of New York public schools.
