About the School
Brooklyn High School of the Arts is a public high school located in Boerum Hill, Downtown Brooklyn, New York City. Established in 2000, it serves grades 9-12 and has an enrollment of approximately 725-900 students through an audition-based admissions process. The school operates from 8:30 AM to 3:20 PM and emphasizes a dual mission of providing a rigorous college-preparatory academic curriculum alongside a four-year pre-conservatory arts program. Students at Brooklyn High School of the Arts engage in a full academic curriculum, including Advanced Placement courses, while also pursuing pre-conservatory training in five majors: Fine Art, Dance, Instrumental Music, Theater, and Vocal Music. The school fosters interdisciplinary learning and encourages technology integration to enhance research and independent study. Daily studio classes help students develop technical skills and professional discipline, preparing them for success in liberal arts, fine arts, and performing arts colleges.
