DC Prep, officially known as the D.C. Preparatory Academy, is a non-profit Charter Management Organization based in Washington, D.C. Founded in 2003 by Emily Lawson, DC Prep has become a leading public charter school network, serving over 2,100 students from Preschool 3 through 8th grade. The organization focuses on bridging the educational divide in the city by providing rigorous academic programs and fostering social-emotional development. DC Prep operates six tuition-free public charter schools, emphasizing a comprehensive educational continuum that prepares students for competitive high schools and colleges.
