About the School
Delaware Military Academy (DMA) is a publicly-funded charter high school located in New Castle County, Delaware. Established in 2003 by retired military personnel, DMA is unique as it is the only public charter high school in the U.S. that embodies the traditions and values of the U.S. Navy. The school serves grades nine through twelve and operates as a college-preparatory institution, offering honors, Advanced Placement (AP), and dual-enrollment classes. All students participate in the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC), emphasizing leadership development alongside academics. DMA has received notable recognition, including being named a Blue Ribbon School in 2019 and achieving a "Superior" ranking from the State of Delaware for high standardized test scores. With a current enrollment of 588 students and a student/teacher ratio of 22.6:1, DMA is part of the Red Clay Consolidated School District and welcomes students from surrounding counties.
