About the School
Downtown College Prep (DCP) is a publicly funded charter school network in San Jose, California, established in 2000. It serves approximately 1,600 first-generation, low-income students of color in grades 5??2 across four campuses. DCP's mission is to prepare all students for college success, demonstrating that every student can achieve this goal regardless of their prior academic performance. The network operates four campuses: DCP Alum Rock Middle School, DCP El Camino Middle School, DCP El Primero High School, and DCP Alum Rock High School. These schools provide a college-preparatory curriculum and support services for students and alumni, including college preparation programs and resources for 500 college-aged alumni. DCP also engages in fundraising efforts, raising around $2 million annually to enhance educational experiences and support its infrastructure through the Downtown College Prep Foundation.
