About the School
Girls Academic Leadership Academy (GALA), officially known as the Dr. Michelle King School for STEM, is a public all-girls STEM school located in the Los Angeles Unified School District. It serves students in grades 6 through 12 and is recognized as the first and only public all-girls STEM school in California. GALA focuses on providing a rigorous college-preparatory education in a supportive environment designed specifically for young women. The school emphasizes academic excellence, ethical leadership, and intellectual curiosity. GALA offers STEM-focused instruction and leadership development opportunities through various programs, including a dedicated leadership elective and student council participation. The school also provides resources for prospective families, including admissions support and school tours, as well as engagement opportunities for parents and alumni. GALA aims to empower girls in Los Angeles by addressing participation and achievement gaps in STEM fields.
