About the School
Global Community Charter School (GCCS) is a tuition-free public charter school located in Harlem, Upper Manhattan, New York City. It serves students from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade, offering a rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) inquiry-based education. Established in 2012, GCCS is the only public school in Upper Manhattan that provides the IB program for elementary and middle school students. GCCS focuses on creating a dynamic learning environment that combines academics with social-emotional development and arts integration. The curriculum includes core subjects like English and math, along with instruction in dance, music, Spanish, and media/visual arts. The school operates as a nonprofit organization with two campuses and aims to foster collaboration among families from diverse backgrounds. Enrollment is open to all New York City students through a charter application process.
