About the School
Lighthouse Community Public Schools (LCPS) is a non-profit public charter organization based in East Oakland, California. Founded in 2001/2002 by teachers and parents, LCPS operates a network of K-12 schools that serve over 1,600 students. The organization is dedicated to providing a high-quality education to historically underserved students, aiming to close the achievement gap through rigorous academic programs and strong community partnerships. LCPS offers a free public education through three charter schools: Lighthouse Community Charter School (TK-8), Lighthouse Community Charter High School (9-12), and Lodestar: A Lighthouse Community Public School (TK-12). The schools focus on preparing students for college and careers by fostering self-motivation and lifelong learning. In addition to a comprehensive academic curriculum, LCPS provides after-school programs and resources for families, ensuring a supportive environment for student success.
