About the School
Maggie L. Walker Governor's School for Government and International Studies (MLWGS) is a public regional magnet high school located in Richmond, Virginia. Established in 1992, it serves approximately 650 gifted students in grades 9 through 12. The school is recognized for its rigorous college preparatory program, focusing on government, international studies, science, mathematics, languages, and fine arts. MLWGS emphasizes a holistic educational approach, fostering character development, collaboration, and leadership among its students. The curriculum is designed to challenge academically advanced learners, with admission based on aptitude and interest. The school also features a Library Media Center that supports research in government and international studies.
