About the School
The Phoenix Charter Academy Network is a nonprofit organization that operates three free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public high schools in Massachusetts, located in Chelsea, Lawrence, and Springfield. Founded in 2003, the network serves over 500 students annually, focusing on rigorous academics and providing extensive support for resilient, disconnected youth. The educational model emphasizes competency-based learning, allowing students to progress by mastering skills. It incorporates restorative justice practices, dual-enrollment opportunities, and flexible scheduling to accommodate diverse student needs. The schools also feature on-site day care for parenting students and maintain a low student-teacher ratio to ensure personalized attention. The mission is to empower students to take ownership of their futures and succeed in high school, college, and beyond.
