About the School
Founded in September 2000, SCSC is a K - 8 learning environment that values and nurtures every child as an individual. Together, parents and faculty develop an individualized learning program to fully develop each child's potential. Parents, community members, and professionals are encouraged to interact with and learn from one another and to participate in the learning process, creating unique opportunities for each child to pursue personal interests. The student to teacher ratio in each homebase is less than 12:1. Multi-age groupings allow for more individualized instruction. For example, one homebase may combine children in grades 1 and 2. The school also strives to allow children from different grade levels to work on projects and other activities together, to encourage further multi-age groupings, which helps to build a sense of community within the school.
