About the School
The Mountain Community School (TMCS) is a public charter school serving students in grades K?? in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Located in the mountains of Western North Carolina, TMCS provides a rigorous, engaging learning environment where students are challenged academically while developing curiosity, confidence, and strong character. Our mission is to empower learners to grow as curious, capable thinkers through meaningful connection with one another, the natural world, and the community we share. Through purposeful, experiential teaching, we cultivate a sense of belonging and confidence while challenging each student to pursue academic excellence and personal growth. At TMCS, learning is active and meaningful. Our approach blends strong academics with experiential learning, outdoor education, and collaborative problem solving. Students are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, work together, and develop the habits of mind that prepare them for success in high school and
